Box Score Monmouth scored on its first four possessions and Trey Yocum passed Ron Baker as the Scots' all-time leading rusher in a 65-3 win over Grinnell.
Yocum – who finished with 127 yards and three touchdowns – broke the 38-year old record with a 10-yard gain in the second quarter. With at least five games left in his career, Yocum has more than 3,700 yards rushing.
Monmouth scored on their first possession after a blocked punt gave the Scots the ball at the Grinnell one-yard line. Yocum's first carry of the day gave Monmouth the quick lead. A five-play drive on the Scots next possession netted Yocum his second TD when he rambled in from 11 yards out.
The Scots tacked on another first quarter score when the defense held the Pioneers to a three-and-out as Brik Wedekind hit Austin Peterson for a 66-yard catch-and-run. Wedekind then hit C.J. Shield for an 18-yard score for a 28-0 first quarter lead.
Wedekind finished with 277 yards passing and four TDs while freshman quarterback Tanner Matlick hooked up with Cole Krynicki for Matlick's first collegiate TD pass.
The Scots rolled up 615 yards of offense while Philip Pryzbyla picked off two Pioneer passes as Monmouth's defense held Grinnell to 174 total yards.
