Box Score Grinnell scored 21 unanswered points to clip Monmouth 21-7.
Trey Yocum rambled for 123 yards, but it wasn’t enough to offset the Pioneer’s 240 passing yards. The junior tailback ran for 42 of those yards on the Scots’ 89-yard scoring drive capped by Brik Wedekind’s four yard TD run early in the second quarter to give the Scots an early 7-0 lead.
The Pioneers answered on their ensuing possession, marching 76 yards to knot the score at 7-7. Grinnell added another score after picking off a Wedekind pass to take a 14-7 lead at halftime. The Pioneers then kept the Scots on the Monmouth of the field in the second half until their final possession.
Grinnell outgained Monmouth 287-267 and had a 15 minute advantage in Time of Possession.
