Tanney sets TD record in win over Pioneers

Box Score Alex Tanney set the NCAA record for career TD passes as Monmouth clinched no worse than a share of the Midwest Conference title with a 69-14 win over Carroll. Tanney hit Mike Blodgett with two scoring throws - the first a 64-yard score - in the first half and added another to Trey Yocum to give him 150 touchdown passes in his career to set the All-Division NCAA record. Teh Scots scored on first seven possessions as Matt Batton opened the first quarter scoring with a 41-yard field goal. By halftime, the Scots were holding a 48-7 lead and went on to score on three of their five second half possessions. Yocum scored three rushing TDs to finish with four scores to tie the school record for single game TDs. Blodgett hauled in seven passes for 175 yards and tied the Scots' record with his 42nd consecutive game with a catch. Monmouth's defense held Carroll to just 207 yards.
