Jones comes to Monmouth from Luther College in Iowa where she was an assistant coach for the last three seasons while also serving as the Assistant Coordinator for Athletics social media/graphics/video. She worked three seasons at Luther under head coach Amanda Bailey. In her first two seasons the Norse were 22-10 in American Rivers Conference play, and they reached the conference tournament semifinals both years. Luther’s 2020-21 season was limited to 11 games and they won the conference tournament opener at Nebraska Wesleyan before falling in the quarterfinals at Simpson College
Jones played at Loras College, graduating in 2016. During her four years with the Duhawks, the program won 71 games, a conference title and twice made the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Jones earned a master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. A native of Colfax, Illinois, she played basketball at Ridgeview High School on teams that finished third in the state during her freshman and junior seasons. Jones was a second team all-state selection in basketball and an all-conference selection in volleyball.
Jones’ parents, Robyn and Andy, are also basketball coaches. Megan played for her dad during her senior year of high school. In 2020, the basketball court at the junior high was renamed “Coach Jones Court.”
