Rhys Lewis joined the Monmouth College soccer teams as an assistant coach in August 2024. He will work with both the men's and women's teams under Coach Hatleli and Coach Henderson.Â
Lewis joined Monmouth from West Liberty University where he was a graduate assistant for the women's soccer team. Lewis played four years at West Liberty, a D-II program in West Virginia. He was named to the Mountain East Conference All-Freshman team in 2019 as a defender, starting all 19 games. In 2023 he was named MEC Honorable Mention as a defender.Â
Over five seasons with the Hilltoppers, Lewis played in 71 games with 69 starts. He scored two goals, both in 2023 and added an assist while logging nearly 6,000 minutes of action in his career.
Lewis graduated from West Liberty with a degree in Business and an emphasis in Sports Management. He currently lives in Monmouth.Â
A native of Huntington Beach, California, Lewis attended Marina High School. He has Welsh heritage and supports West Ham United in the English Premier League.Â
