Will Hampton was hired as the Monmouth football linebackers coach in March 2025.
Before joining the Fighting Scots, Hampton coached three seasons at Second Baptist in Houston, Texas. With Second Baptist he served as the Defensive Line coach for two seasons and the Linebackers Coach/Run Game Coordinator for one season. In 2022 and 2023 he coached the Touchdown Club Defensive Lineman of the Year. The 2023 winner Charlie Shears went on to play at Texas A&M while the 2022 winner, John Dearing, went to the University of San Diego.
Hampton was a Graduate Assistant at West Georgia University in 2016 and also coached at Lake Forest Academy in 2014-15 as the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach.Â
Hampton played as a defensive lineman at Northwestern University from 2010-13, graduating from NU in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Played for Pat Fitzgerald and helped the Wildcats to three bowl games and a combined 28-23 record in four seasons. The 2012 Wildcats went 10-3 and won the Gator Bowl, NU's first bowl win since the 1949 Rose Bowl. They were ranked as high as #16 during Hampton's career and hosted College Gameday against Ohio State in 2013.Â
A native of Houston, Texas, Hampton played at Cy-Creek High School. He was a member of the Leadership Council at Northwestern and recipient of the George W. Ballantine Award. At Cy-Creek he was team captain, all-district and a Houston TD Club Finalist while helping the team to a 13-1 district record and back-to-back district titles.Â
Hampton lives in Monmouth with his wife Lindsey, daughter Clarke Ede and golden doodle Eugene.Â
