Monmouth College Athletics

As the running backs coach for the Fighting Scots, Johnson has witnessed numerous rushing records fall in the past decade, including four backs who eclipsed the 1,000-yard plateau for a season. In all, Johnson’s backs have turned in 1,000-yard seasons seven times.

Johnson, a Monmouth native, played his prep ball at Monmouth High School before playing college ball for the Fighting Scots as a hard-nosed fullback. After graduating from Monmouth in 1998, he returned to Monmouth High School where he served as the head coach.

He currently teaches social studies at Monmouth-Roseville High School. He resides in Monmouth with his wife Regina, who serves as the college's Director of Multicultural Student Services, and their three children.
