Former catcher Dayton Ince returned to the diamond in 2018 with a new position on the bench as an assistant coach after serving as the Scots' main backstop in his playing days. He will enter his fourth year as an assistant in 2021.

Head Coach Alan Betourne once called the catcher "one of the best baseball minds" he had coached and relies on that knowledge in the dugout. Ince started and played in all but one game his senior season a year after hitting a career-high .353.
