The Monmouth College men's soccer team scored the first goal of the game on Sunday but ultimately lost 2-1 at Eureka.
The game was scoreless for the first 58 minutes. Monmouth's freshman goalkeeper
Calvin Cotton (Hernando, Mississippi) made two saves in the half.
The Scots broke through in the 59th minute. Sophomore
Paul Oros (El Paso Texas) put Monmouth on top 1-0 with his first goal of the game. It came off an assist from senior
Owen Murray (Cedar City, Texas).
Eureka tied the game in the 73rd minute. With just over minutes to play, Monmouth was called for a foul in the box and the Red Devils converted the penalty kick with 5:43 to play. Monmouth's
Mubaraq Basheer (Katy, Texas) put a shot on goal just 30 seconds later but Eureka's keeper made the save to secure a 2-1 win.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Cotton finished the game with three saves…In addition to Cotton,
