The Monmouth College women's tennis team lost a 7-0 non-conference match to Illinois Wesleyan at home on Tuesday.
Ivana Stefanova (Streamwood, Illinois) and
Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles but IWU won the other two doubles matches 6-0 to take the point.
Alayna McKinley (Rock Island, Illinois) and
Natalie Holst (East Moline, Illinois) teamed up at No. 2 while
Kimber Calvert (Paris, Illinois) and
Tiah Riggs (Vincennes, Indiana) played at No. 3.
Stefanova lost at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-3 while Labicki forced a tiebreak before losing 6-4, 0-6, 10-8 at No. 2 singles. Calvert fell at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-2 and Holst lost at No. 4 6-3, 6-4. McKinley lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 and Riggs lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: With 43 combined singles and doubles wins, Stefanova moved into a tie for 6th in MC history with Sara Yerks…Stefanova and Labicki are 4-2 as a doubles pair this season…Labicki has 25 career doubles wins, tied with Sara Yerks for fourth in MC history…The next team match is Sept. 24 at Illinois College…Stefanova and Labicki will play both singles and doubles this weekend at the ITA Central Regionals…The last time the Scots women's team had players in the ITA Regionals was Oct. 2015…The draws have not been released but the event begins Friday at Washington University in St. Louis.
