Monmouth College senior football player
Jaliek White (Jacksonville, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Monday. The linebacker had the best game of his career on Senior Day in a 69-0 win over Knox.
Making his first start, White posted a career-high 15 tackles with 2.5 TFL, a sack and a forced fumble as Monmouth kept Knox off the board. White made an impact immediately with a strip-sack fumble on 4th and 4 on Knox's 3rd drive of the game. The fumble was deflected and eventually recovered by the Scots for a loss of 35 yards on the play. White and the Monmouth defense held Knox to 1.8 yards per play in the shutout.
The Scots are now ranked nationally at No. 23 in the AFCA Coaches poll and No. 25 in the D3football.com poll. Monmouth has a bye in the NCAA Division III Playoffs this week before traveling to No. 6/7 Saint John's for a Noon game on Saturday, Nov. 29.
