The Monmouth College women's tennis team competed in the first day of the Midwest Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.
Ivana Stefanova (Streamwood, Illinois) and
Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) advanced to the semifinals at No. 1 doubles and will play on Sunday. They beat Illinois College 8-5 in the first round matchup and face Lake Forest in the semifinals.
Stefanova won her first singles match at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1 against IC before falling in the semis 6-1, 6-4 to Cornell. Labicki lost a tough 3-set match at No. 2 singles to Grinnell. She bounced back to win in the consolation semis 8-2 against Ripon. Labicki plays in the consolation final on Sunday against IC.
Freshman
Tiah Riggs (Vincennes, Indiana) won her first round match against IC at No. 6 singles 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. She fell in the semifinals 7-5, 6-1 against Grinnell.
"Tiah showed her basketball toughness in her third set win today and Ivana did a great job in the first match getting on and off the court against a player she beat in a super tiebreaker earlier this season," said head coach

Natalie Holst (East Moline, Illinois) will play in the consolation final at No. 4 singles on Sunday against a player from Lawrence.
Kimber Calvert (Paris, Illinois) and
Alayna McKinley (Rock Island, Illinois) both went 0-1 in singles on Saturday.
Calvert and Holst will play in Sunday's consolation semifinals in No. 2 doubles against Ripon. Riggs and McKinley will face Lawrence in the No. 3 consolation semifinals.
