Newman Wins MWC Performer of The Week

Coming off a record-setting performance on Saturday, Monmouth College sophomore wide receiver Chase Newman (Morrison, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday. This is Newman's second MWC Performer of the Week award this season.

Newman caught a career-high 13 passes for a school-record 301 yards on Saturday in Monmouth's 48-15 win over Illinois College. He also tied the single-game record with four receiving touchdowns and set the Monmouth record for longest play from scrimmage with a 98-yard touchdown catch. The 301 yards broke the single-game school record by 50 yards and ranks 4th in Midwest Conference history for receiving yards in a game.

Despite missing the season opener, Newman leads the Midwest Conference in receptions (30), receiving yards (560) and touchdowns (9) on the season. He averages 15.6 yards per catch and 140 yards per game. Newman ranks in the top 20 for all D3 players in receptions, receptions per game, receiving yards and yards per game while ranking third in touchdowns.

The Scots will be home on Saturday with a 2 p.m. Homecoming game against Cornell.
