The Monmouth College women's soccer team had their unbeaten run in Midwest Conference play come to an end on Saturday with a 3-0 home loss to Lawrence. At the midway point of the MWC slate, the Fighting Scots (6-4-2, 2-1-1) are in fourth place in the conference. .
The Vikings took the lead in the 14th minute, scoring off a corner kick.
Izzy Seipold (Peoria, Illinois) made two saves in a row before the 20 minute mark and another one 10 minutes later.
Kiersten Medinger (Silvis, Illinois) put a shot on goal for the Scots in the 32nd minute but Lawrence took a 2-0 lead in the 36th minute.
Seipold made a save early in the second half but the visitors made it 3-0 in the 55th minute. Medinger had a shot blocked and the Vikings made a save on a shot by
Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois). Neither team scored over the final 35 minutes and the game ended 3-0.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Seipold made six saves…The Scots used 20 players on the day with
Avery Parks (Bloomington, Indiana) logging 83 minutes, the first time in her career she has exited a MWC game…Hobson had two of Monmouth's three shots on goal…Corner kicks were 8-0 for Lawrence…Lawrence leads the all-time series 14-10-4 with three straight wins…Monmouth's last win in the series came in 2019…The Scots are back home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. against Illinois College.
