The Monmouth College men's tennis team lost a pair of Midwest Conference matches 9-0 on Saturday. The Scots played a morning match at Cornell and an afternoon match at No. 29 Grinnell.
Sawyer Day (Kansas City, Missouri) and
Spencer Corn (Cupertino, California) played at No. 1 doubles. They lost 8-1 to both teams. Andrew Nichols (Janesville, Wisconsin) and
Macaden Sepich (Mackinaw, Illinois) played at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-0 to both the Rams and Pioneers. The Scots do not have a No. 3 doubles team.
Day played at No. 1 singles and lost 6-1, 6-0 to Cornell. Sepich played at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 loss against Cornell. Corn lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 against Cornell. Nickols played at No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Cornell.
Nehemiah Declaw (Aurora, Colorado) was not available so the Scots had forfeits at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.Â
Against Grinnell, the Scots lost all four singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Day played at No. 1 followed by Nickols at No. 2, Sepich at No. 3 and Corn at No. 4.Â
Monmouth hosts Lawrence and Ripon on Saturday, April 13. The match against the Vikings starts at 9 a.m. with the match against the Red Hawks at 3 p.m. Â Â
