Lummus Named Third Team All-Region by D3Baseball

The accolades keep rolling in for Monmouth College sophomore catcher Daniel Lummus (New Port Richey, Florida). Last week he was named to the Midwest Conference baseball second team and on Tuesday he was named Region 9 Third Team All-Region by D3Baseball.com.

Lummus is the first Monmouth player honored by D3Baseball.com since 2019 when both Tyler McDonald and Alex Sheetz were All-Central Region. Overall he is the eighth Fighting Scots player to earn all-region since the teams began in 2012.

Lummus led Scots hitters in average (.357), OPS (.882), hits (46), doubles (10) and RBI (30). He also scored 24 runs, stole four bases and drew 15 walks for a .432 OBP and a .450 Slugging percentage.

He played in 36 games, starting 35 with time behind the plate and in right field. He led the Midwest Conference in fielding percentage by a catcher at .996 with just one error and six passed balls. He also led all MWC catchers in throwing out 43.2% of base stealers on the season with only 21 allowed.

Lummus, a physics and math major, was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team this spring with a cumulative GPA over 3.50.
