The Monmouth College women's soccer team dropped their final non-conference game of the season with a 3-0 home loss to Benedictine on Sunday. The Scots enter Midwest Conference play next weekend with a record of 3-5. 

The Eagles put the early pressure on the Scots and scored in the 15th minute with a shot from distance. They doubled the lead 13 minutes later and took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Benedictine out-shot Monmouth 12-6 in the first half and Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois) had three saves for the Scots. 

Monmouth had a couple good chances in the second half but the Eagles kept them from getting on the board. Monmouth had 10 shots in the second half but the only goal was called back for offsides. The Eagles put the game away with a goal in the 85th minute for a 3-0 lead. Selquist had five more saves in the second half to finish the game with eight. 

The Scots are next in action on Saturday, Oct. 1 with the MWC opener at Lake Forest. The next home game is at 1:30 pm on Saturday, Oct. 8 against Ripon.
