Box Score 2 The Monmouth College volleyball team played twice in the WLC Quadrangular in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday. In the morning game, Monmouth fell to No. 18 Wartburg 25-23, 25-12, 25-19. Against host Wisconsin Lutheran in the afternoon, the Scots fell 25-13, 25-19, 25-16.
Against Wartburg, the Scots were back-and-forth through the first set, including a tie at 17-17. Warbturg pulled out the first set by two points and then won the second set from wire to wire.
Against the Knights,
Layne Wright (Davenport, Iowa) led Monmouth with 11 kills and added 10 digs.
Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) added eight and
Sarah LaHood (East Peoria, Illinois) had five kills.
Paige Bergschneider (Alexander, Illinois) had 27 assists, eight digs and one ace.
Savannah Robinson (Delavan, Illinois) had a team-high 18 digs and
Lauren Naven (Dunlap, Illinois) added an ace. Wright had two blocks while both LaHood and Cece Palladino (Volo, Illinois) had one.
In the second match, Wright again led the team in kills. She had six, one more than Dybal and Bergschneider had 13 assists. Wright had two aces against WLC and Dybal had a block. Robinson led with eight digs while Wright had six and Naven had five.
