The Monmouth College cross country teams competed in the Spartan Classic, hosted by Aurora University, on Saturday. The race took place at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course in Geneva, Illinois as the women finished 12th and the men 14th.
The women ran first, with a 6K distance. Â
Gabriela Peterson (Southwick, Massachusetts) finished 39th in a time of 26:21.7.
Lindsay Eaton (Danvers) was 87th in 28:35.6. The next three finishers for Monmouth were running the 6K distance for the first time in an official event. Skyler Garey (Metamora, Illinois) was 114th at 30:36.7,
Kailey Cronin (Elgin, Illinois) was 141st in 34:11.6 and
Kari Coulter (Keithsburg, Illinois) was 154th at 40:33.4.
Lexi Shields (Viola, Illinois) was 156th at 44:20.1.
The men's race followed at a distance of 8K.
William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) had Monmouth's best finish in 73rd place at 28:33.2.
Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) was 124th in 29:56.6 and
Neo Colter (Geneseo, Illinois) was 171st in 31:52.5.
Alex Urbina (Round Lake Beach, Illinois) was 200th in 43:02.2 with Riley Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) in 212th at 35:03.5. The last two finishers for the Scots were
Harrison Hicks (Spring Grove, Illinois) at 36:03.6) and
Brendan Jones (Mascoutah, Illinois) in 39:57.2/
Both the men and women will run on Friday night in Peoria at the Bradley Intercollegiate. The race is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.Â
