The Monmouth College cross country teams ran in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Saturday. The event, at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois, was hosted by Augustana College.
The Fighting Scots women finished in third place while the men finished in fourth place. The women ran a 6K while the men ran an 8K
Gabriela Peterson (Southwick, Massachusetts) was the top finisher on the women's side in 10th place. She ran 25:06.3, beating her previous career best by 54 seconds.
Lindsay Eaton (Danvers, Illinois) was 23rd in 28:57.6, just in front of
Skylar Garey (Metamora, Illinois) in a career-best 29:31.0.
Kailey Cronin (Elgin, Illinois) ran 34:45.4 for 35th place.
Lexi Shields (Viola, Illinois) was 36th with a season-best 36:25.1 and
Kari Coulter (Keithsburg, Illinois) finished 39th in a season-best 38:42.2.
On the men's side,
Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) had the best finish in 31st place with a career-best 28:00.0.
Neo Colter (Geneseo, Illinois) finished 40th with a season-best 28:35.1.
Harrison Hicks (Spring Grove, Illinois) was 78th in a time of 32:00.4 while
Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) was 81st in a time of 32:40.1. Eli Perry (Mt. Prospect, Illinois) finished 90th in 33:44.5 in his first 8K race while
Alex Urbina (Round Lake Beach, Illinois) was right behind him in 33:44.8.
Brendan Jones (Mascoutah, Illinois) was 98th in 35:35.0.
Former Fighting Scots runner
Riley Dulin finished in fifth place overall. The 2022 graduate ran unattached in 26:07.9, 33 seconds behind the winner.
Both teams have next weekend off. The Scots next compete at the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Illinois on Friday, Oct. 14.
