The Monmouth College men's golf team started their spring season over the weekend at the IC Spring Opener in Jacksonville, Illinois. The Fighting Scots were one of seven teams competing in the two-day event, hosted by Illinois College at The Links Golf Course.
As a team, Monmouth finished in sixth place with a score of 672.
Ryan Prusak (Oswego, Illinois) was the top individual finished as he tied for 11th place. Prusak, a second-team All-SLIAC selection last year, shot an 82 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday to finish at 159.
Ben Dobberstein (Oswego, Illinois) finished tied for 28th with an 84-83-167 on the weekend.
Jimmy Johnson (Andalusia, Illinois) was the Scots third finisher at 87-86-173 which put him in a tie for 33rd.
Noah Shields (Rantoul, Illinois) and
Maxwell Cook (Dunlap, Illinois) both finished tied for 37th with a score of 177. Shields shot a 93 on Saturday with an 84 on Sunday while Cook had an 89 Saturday and an 88 on Sunday.
The Scots will be back on the course on Friday with the Sandburg Scramble at Lake Bracken Country Club in Galesburg. Hosted by Carl Sandburg College. the event starts at 1 p.m.
