The Monmouth College men's golf team started the SLIAC Championships on Sunday while the women's team finished their season at the Augustana Viking Invitational.
Playing at the Far Oaks GC in Caseyville, Illinois, Monmouth is in ninth place out of 13 teams after round one. The Scots have a team score of 314 after round one, six strokes behind Knox for eighth place and fifth among Midwest Conference teams playing in the SLIAC. Grinnell leads the tournament with a score of 290.
Connor Watson (Macomb, Illinois) is in a 3-way tie for fourth after the first round after carding a 1-under 71 on Sunday. He fired birdies on three of the five par-5 holes, the 1st, 9th and 15th. He bogeyed 4 and 13 while also getting a birdie on the par-4 15th. Watson bogeyed the par-5 18th to finish his round with a 71.
Jaxson Wiler (Galva, Illinois) is in 30th place after shooting a +5 77 on Sunday.
Cole Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado) is tied for 41st place with a +8 80 and
Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) is in 46th place with a +10 82.
Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) is tied for 53rd with a +16 88.
WOMEN
Meanwhile, the women's team finished their season on Sunday with the second round of the Augustana Viking Invitational. Monmouth finished ninth out of nine teams with a +212 team score.
Lexie Campbell (Earlville, Illinois) finished 33rd with a +21 93 on Saturday and a +19 91 on Sunday for a +40 184. Annalyn Lovall (Oneida, Illinois) shot 96-103-199 to finish in 42nd place at +55.
Hope Peed (Kewanee, Illinois) shot 103-99-202 for a +58 finish in 44th place.
Mylee Hansen (Pekin, Illinois) was 45th at +59 after shooting 99 and 104 for a +59 203.
