Scots Soccer Drops Decision at IWU

The Monmouth College men's soccer team went on the road Tuesday night for a non-conference tilt at Illinois Wesleyan. The Titans scored twice in each half to beat the Scots 4-0.

Illinois Wesleyan made it 1-0 just 71 seconds into the contest. The Titans outshot Monmouth 7-1 in the first half and doubled the lead with under 10 minutes to go before the break.

The Titans scored nine minutes into the second half and made it 5-0 with just over 10 minutes to play. Monmouth finished the game with two shots on goal, both from freshman Montgomery Schroeder (Harrisonville, Missouri).

The Scots return to Midwest Conference action when they host Lake Forest College at 1:30 p.m. Saturday as part of a doubleheader with the women's teams. They will also host Knox College at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: The Scots were outshot 15-4 and shots on goal were 8-2 in favor of the Titans…Marcos Garibay (Waukegan, Illinois) made four saves…Seth Andersen (Galesburg, Illinois) and Brendan Guenther (Pekin, Illinois) took the other shots for Monmouth…Corner kicks were 7-3 IWU…Monmouth played 14 players with four going the distance…In addition to Garibay, Reid Sondgeroth (Mapleton, Illinois), Jaxon Coleman (Washington, Illinois) and James Azzi (Sydney, Australia) played all 90 minutes.
