The Monmouth College men's soccer team scored their first goal of the season and secured a tie at Coe College on Wednesday night. The Scots are now 0-1-1 on the season as they prepare for Friday's home opener.
Wednesday's game was scoreless at the half before the Kohawks scored at the 53:54 mark for a 1-0 lead. In the 70
th minute the Scots got even as sophomore
Matthew Rhenals (Hollywood, Florida) took a pass from freshman
Montgomery Schroeder (Harrisonville, Missouri) and scored Monmouth's first goal of the season.
The game went into overtime but neither team could find the winner. Coe outshot Monmouth 15-6 on the night but shots on goal were even at four. Â Junior goalkeeper
Marcos Garibay (Waukegan, Illinois) made three saves for Monmouth.

Tylor Miller (Galesburg, Illinois) made his season debut, playing as a forward while junior Connor Graham (Chillicothe, Illinois) also made his 2021 debut.
The Scots will host Buena Vista University at 2 p.m. on Friday in their home debut. They will also be at home Saturday at 3 p.m. against the University of Dubuque
