The Monmouth College football knocked off Grinnell on Saturday 42-7 and senior linebacker
Evan Otto (Canton, Illinois) was named the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Otto led the Scots with 11 tackles on Saturday and he also led the way with three sacks. One of those resulted in a forced fumble but the Grinnell quarterback recovered the ball. Otto's three tackles for a loss resulted in 37 lost yards for the Pioneers.
Otto is the first Scots football player to win a MWC award this season and the second overall. Volleyball senior Kaylee Woodard (Monmouth, Illinois) was the Defensive Performer of the Week last week for the Scots and the MWC. Otto recorded career highs in tackles and sacks in Saturday's 42-7 win. The Scots are next in action on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Illinois College.
