The Fighting Scots men's tennis team cruised to a 6-3 home win over Illinois College on Thursday night. The match was postponed from Tuesday due to bad weather and Monmouth improved to 2-4 on the season and 2-2 in Midwest Conference action.Â
The Scots took a 2-1 lead in doubles as
Joseph Shie (Davenport, Iowa) and
Zach Harris (Mascoutah, Illinois) won at the top spot.

Brendan Guenther (Pekin, Ilinois) won at the number two doubles spot.
Adam Greer (Brimfield, Illinois) and Matt Simonson (Monmouth, Illinois) forced a tiebreaker in the third set but lost 7-4.Â
In singles the Scots won at four of the six spots. Both Joseph and
Andrew Shie won 6-0, 6-0 as did Guenther, while Harris won 6-0, 6-1. Illinois College won at the bottom two singles spots with Greer forcing a third-set tiebreak with a 7-5 second set win. The tiebreak went to IC 10-7.
The Scots are now 2-0 against Illinois College this season with a win in Jacksonville and at home. The men's team will host Grinnell College on Saturday in the home finale with a double header as the women's team also plays Grinnell.Â
