Box Score The Monmouth College men's tennis team opened Midwest Conference play with a 6-3 road win over Illinois College on Wednesday. The Scots are now 1-2 on the season, 1-0 in MWC play.
The Scots got started by taking a 2-1 lead in doubles. In the No. 1 position Joseph
Shie (Davenport, Iowa) and
Zach Harris (
Mascoutah, Illinois) won 8-1. The Scots also won at No. 2 doubles with Andrew
Shie (Davenport, Iowa) and
Brendan Guenther (Pekin, Illinois) winning 8-1. IC won the No. 3 doubles 8-0 against
Adam Greer (
Brimfield, Illinois) and Omar
Godinez (
Tlaquepaque, Mexico).

Shie won his No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-2 and Andrew was victorious 6-0, 6-0. Harris took the No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0 and Guenther won at No. 4 6-1, 6-0. His match actually secured the win as he finished just ahead of J.
Shie. Illinois College won the last two singles matches 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 against Greer and 6-0, 6-0 over
Godinez at No. 6
