The Monmouth College volleyball team kicked off a weekend at the Central College tournament in Pella, Iowa with a 3-0 sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan Friday night. The Scots won the match 25-20, 28-26, 25-22 to move to 13-13 on the season.
Freshman
Layne Wright (Davenport, Iowa) led the Scots with 11 kills while senior
Loryn Beal (Pontiac, Illinois) had nine and senior Megan Kimble (Farmington, Illinois) had eight. Senior
Karlie Drish (Milan, Illinois) dished out 32 assists while senior
Kaylee Woodard (Monmouth, Illinois) had a team-high three aces. Woodard and Beal both had 21 digs while Drish added 17.
The 13-13 Scots play Iowa Wesleyan at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Central at 12:30 p.m. Those are the final two regular season games for the Scots this season. With a win on Saturday, Monmouth will have their most wins since the 2012 team went 19-11, the last time the Scots finished a season over .500. The 2018 team also won 13 games but finished 13-15.
