Monmouth banged out 24 hits in Wednesday's Florida twinbill with Cairn University, dropping the opener 8-6, but rebounding with a 14-1 win in Game 2.

The teams traded runs in the first inning of the opener before the Highlanders scored three in the third on a two-run, two-out homer. The Scots got two runs back in the top of the fourth when
Sean Davis picked up one of his three hits in the game with a lead off base hit and then came home on a
Justin Bost triple.
Tyler Ulfig delivered a two-out double to pull the Scots within 4-3.

Cairn responded in the bottom of the inning scoring three times. Leading 7-3 in the fifth, the Highlanders tacked on an insurance run ahead of Monmouth's three-run seventh when the Scots scored three run earned runs.

Freshman
Addison Fletcher fired six innings of three-hit ball in Game 2 to help the Scots get back over the .500 mark at 4-3. Fletcher didn't allow a runner past first base until the sixth when the Highlanders scored an unearned run.

Monmouth got an early lead in the third when
Matt Temaner's base hit plated
Trevor Davis. They added three more in the fifth, two on a Davis two-run single. Leading 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth, the Scots put the game away with 10 runs, all but one with two outs.
Shamus Murphy provided the inning's big blow, a three-run homer.
