Thomas Van Alstine netted a Monmouth school-record seven goals and
Jeff Knapp six in Saturday's 18-6 win over Wabash.
Knapp netted the Scots' first three goals – his first in the game's first 26 seconds –and Van Alstine the next three as Monmouth jumped on top of the Little Giants 7-3 by the middle of the second quarter.
Liam Meyer, Knapp and
Mitch Perez finished the first half scoring for Monmouth which led 10-3 at the break.
Monmouth continued to fire away in the second half, scoring the first four goals to continue their run of seven unanswered scores for a 14-3 lead. Wabash countered with a pair of late third period scores, but couldn't overcome Monmouth's attack which outshot the Little Giants 51-27.
The Scots travel to Dubuque for a 7 p.m. faceoff on Tuesday.
