The Scots jumped out to an 8-0 lead, but had to hold off the Vikings at Lawrence 69-59, to remain tied with Ripon for the Midwest Conference lead at 10-2.
Â
Becca Gallis – the only Scot in double-figures – opened the game with a pair of free throws and a bucket on her way to a 27-point afternoon and a program record but the Vikings recovered from a slow start to nearly offset Gallis' day. Lawrence found their range after Monmouth's initial surge to forge a 16-all tie after one quarter. The Vikings kept the pressure on in the second period to trail just 30-29 at the half.

Monmouth inched ahead in the third quarter, but couldn't put the Vikings away until late after LU stayed within two possessions for most of the second half. A pair of Gallis free throws – she set the Scots' single-game consecutive free throw record going 13-for-13 from the line after ending her season consecutive made free throw string at 32 Friday night – gave Monmouth an eight-point lead with 4:48 to play for their largest lead since the eight-minute mark of the opening quarter. Leading 59-53 at the 3:17 mark, the Scots went 6-for-7 from the line the rest of the way to hold off the Vikings.
