Monmouth fired off 40 shots to win a shootout 13-12 at Benedictine Sunday afternoon.

Sarah Poirier scored the game's first goal as the teams traded runs in the first half. Following Poirier's score, the Eagles netted three answered scores. Monmouth roared back with four straight scores opening with back-to-back cage-finders from
Kara-Jade Gordon and solo goals from
Amanda Green and
Kaelin Sommer. Three straight scores at the end of the first half – two by Gordon and one from
Laine Perez – put the Scots up 8-6 at the break.

Perez added the opening salvo of the second half before Benedictine rolled off fourt straight scores to take a 10-9 lead. Monmouth regained the lead for good when Green netted the tying goal midway through the second half and Gordon's goal at the 9:31 mark gave the Scots an 11-10 lead. Monmouth never trailed the rest of the way as Kaitlyn Korf made two of her four saves in the final minute.
