Monmouth ran their win streak to a season-high seven games with a Sunday 4-2, 5-1 sweep of Ripon to move to atop the Midwest Conference with a 7-1 mark.
Â
Cassidy Abbott tossed a two-hitter in Game 1 for her second win in as many days. After the Red Hawks plated a lone run in the top of the second, the Scots had an immediate answer when
Laura Dulee drove in
Alexis Opel from second base. The Scots added two more in the third on
Jessica Pauley's two-run double to score
Kaelan Bradley and
Allie Ramlo.
Â
Jenna Pauley scattered four hits in the nightcap and had a shutout going until Ripon scratched out a run in the sixth with a two-out hit. Monmouth got all the runs Pauley would need in the third when
Lauren Sperry led off with a single and scored on Bradley's base hit. Bradley later scored
Jessica Pauley's base knock and
Abby Tucker raced home a batter later on a Ripon error. Sperry finished the game 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
