The Scots jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings of Game 1 only to see the Blueboys rally with a four-run fifth. IC completed the comeback with a three-run eighth and held off the Scots who had runners in scoring position in three of the last four innings.
Â
It was a similar scenario in Game 2 when Monmouth took a 2-0 first inning lead only to have IC take a 5-3 lead into the seventh. The Scots knotted the game when
Harry Sanchez led off with a double and
Mike Dato plated Sanchez with a base hit. Following
Sean Davis' sac bunt, Dato advanced to third on a passes ball and scored on a wild pitch to knot the game at 5-all. Neither bullpen blinked until the 11
th when
Jake Starkey drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on
Matt Temaner's sac bunt.
Harry Sanchez then drove in the game winner with a bloop single to left, scoring Starkey from second with no outs.

Monmouth, which improved to 6-2 in the league, travels to Wisconsin this coming weekend for games at Lawrence and St. Norbert.
