Box Score 2 Andrew Shie and
Zach Harris turned in a pair of runner up finishes in Saturday's Midwest Conference Singles Championships in Madison, Wis.

Shie – a freshman – made his league tournament debut a memorable one cruising through the first two rounds of No. 2 singles to set up a finals showdown with Grinnell. Shie eased by Lake Forest's Aidan Burke 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinals and made quick work of Hayden Dzurisin of Cornell in the semis with a 6-1, 6-3 win. Grinnell's Zach Lane ended Shie's run in the title match 6-0, 6-0.

Harris also made quick work of his two first round opponents at No. 3 singles before meeting Grinnell in the finals. The sophomore had little trouble dispatching Michael Connolly of Illinois College 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cade Francour of Lawrence in the semifinal. Harris fell in the title tilt to Grinnell's Sam Stickels 6-2, 6-0.

Joseph Shie posted a quarterfinal win at No. 1 with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Ripon's Drew Jorgensen. He was eliminated in the semifinals by IC's Miguel Vaca 6-1, 6-0.

Alex Martin dropped into the consolation round at No. 4 after falling 6-4, 6-0 to St. Norbert's Alex Vandenberg in the quarterfinals. He was eliminated in an 8-1 loss to Drew Arnold of Cornell in the consolation semifinal.

Freshman
Brendan Guenther opened with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kyle Yang of Knox in the first round, but was knocked out of contention in the quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Grinnell's Michael Conlin-Brandenburg. No. 6
Nicholas Robertson dropped from singles competition by default.
Monmouth placed one team in the consolation finals of Sunday's doubles competition.
Joseph Shie and Harris lost a tight 8-6 match to IC's Michael Connolly and Miguel Vaca in the No. 1 quarterfinals, but came back with an 8-5 win over St. Norbert's Johnny Zanotti and Andrew Gehring in the consolation semifinals. The Scots' top tandem was clipped in the consolation championship by Cade Francour and Connor Maloney of Lawrence.

Nos. 2 and 3 doubles were each eliminated in two matches.
Andrew Shie and Guenther at No. 2 fell 8-3 in their opener with Lake Forest's Adam Burek and Chase Garber. They were knocked out of play in the consolation semifinals by Luke Andrekus and Alex Vandenburg of St. Norbert.

Martin and Robertson dropped into the consolation round at No. 3 after an 8-0 quarterfinal loss to Aidan Delgado and Andrea Arivella of Lawrence. An 8-3 loss in the consolation semifinals to IC's Jacob McQueen and Connor Andrew ended their weekend play.

The Scots' entire MWC Tournament team is expected to return for the 2019-20 campaign when Martin enters as the lone senior among the group.
