Box Score Monmouth's defense held Concordia Chicago scoreless in the second half to hold on for a 7-4 win in Midwest Lacrosse Conference action.
 
The Cougars netted the first two goals of the game, but the Scots answered with scores from Shane Herkert and Jack Koen to knot the contest at 2-2 after one quarter. CUC opened the second period with two quick scores, but that would be the last as the Scots' blanked the Cougars over the final 42 minutes and poured in five straight goals. Chase Cranford netted his lone goal at the 11:04 mark of the second quarter and Koenn's second score knotted the game at 4-4 with 9:36 left in the opening half. Connor Armstrong's first goal then gave the Scots the lead for good and a 5-4 halftime edge. Armstrong netted hissecond goal early in the third period and Herkert netted his second on a man-up opportunity a minute later.
 
Monmouth outshot CUC 45-22 and held a 50-36 advantage in ground balls. Faceoffs were nearly even with the Scots holding a two faceoff advantage.
 
The Scots continue their homestand Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest against North Central University.
