HOMERUN HELPS GODDARD SCORE 200TH CAREER WIN IN FLORIDA

Monmouth coach John Goddard got his milestone 200th win on the final day, in the final game of the Scots' Florida trip, posting a 1-0 win over Roger Williams University after falling 9-3 to the University of Northwestern in the opener.

Jenna Pauley supplied the arm and Alison Trettin the bat in the historic win over Roger Williams. Pauley kept the Hawks off balance, scattering four hits and facing just three over the minimum. She allowed runners in scoring position just twice in the game. Monmouth banged out nine hits, but couldn't manage a run until Trettin stroked a leadoff homer – the Scots' second round tripper of the spring – in the top of the sixth. The Scots had runners in scoring position in four other innings, but needed just the one to deliver Goddard's milestone win.

The final day had opened with a loss to Northwestern. The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and never trailed while banging out 14 hits. The Scots scratched out two runs in the sixth when Alexis Opel and Trettin drew back-to-back one out walks and scored on Brittney Enos' double to right center.

The Scots – who won two of their last three in Florida – continue on the road for a trip to Westminster on Tuesday ahead of their home opener with Fontbonne on Mar. 23.
