Monmouth erupted for 11 runs over a three-inning span to win handily 11-3 in the opener with Fontbonne Saturday afternoon, but couldn't muster the hits in a 6-1 Game 2 loss.

The Scots batted around in the second inning of the opener as
Jessica Pauley put the icing on the cake with a two-run single to complete the four-run fourth. Monmouth piled on again in the fifth and added three on a three-run homer from
Alison Trettin in the fourth as Monmouth's bottom four in the order scored eight runs.
Cassidy Abbott went the distance in the five-inning game, fanning four and scattering six hits for her first win on the season.

The Griffins regrouped in Game 2, breaking open a close game with a four-run sixth. Fontbonne collected five straight hits in the inning to pull away in what had been a 2-0 game.
