Monmouth experienced both ends of the spectrum Saturday at Glasgow Field, managing just two hits in a 6-0 Game 1 loss to Aurora, but bouncing back with 11 hits in a 12-5 win in the nightcap.
Â
The Spartans touched starter
Tyler McDonald for three runs in six innings after the senior had retired the first 10 batters he faced. A walk, hit and groundout in the fourth inning provided Aurora with the only run they would need as the Scots put just two runners on in the early game.
Â
The Scots turned the tables in the nightcap, jumping on the Spartans for six, second inning runs.
Harry Sanchez blasted a three-run homer in the inning and
Matt Temaner added two-run shot in the fourth on his way to a 3-for-5, RBI day. Sanchez matched Temaner's RBI total, driving in his fourth run in the sixth. The offensive show made starter
Conner Sharp a winner on the mound, working seven innings for his second win of the season.
