Monmouth rallied back from a first quarter hole, but couldn't get over the hump in a 12-9 loss at Beloit Wednesday night.
Â
After a scoreless first nine minutes, Beloit reeled off seven straight goals until
Chase Cranford broke the ice for the Scots with an even-man goal at the 2:51 mark of the second quarter. The Scots then went on a 4-0 run in the second half as Cranford netted two of his team-high four goals to close the gap to 10-6. The teams then traded scores until Monmouth scored the final two goals of the contest, one by Cranford and the other by
Liam Meyer in the final 2:37.
Â
The Scots travel to the Milwaukee School of Engineering for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, then returns home to host the University of Dubuque on Tuesday.
