Monmouth is off to their best start in the young program's history after rolling past Anderson University 18-8 Saturday afternoon in Indiana.
Â
Amanda Green scored Monmouth's first goal just 17 seconds into the game on their way to a school-record 18-goal day and a two-game win streak.
Kara-Jade Gordon – who netted seven goals on the day and assisted on Green's cage-finder – scored just two minutes later before Anderson answered with a tally two minutes after Gordon. The Scots rolled off six unanswered scores on a streak that began with
Angham Jaradat's second goal of the season and ended with Green's second goal. In between, Gordon launched three straight scores and
Aspen Chadderdon scored on a free position shot. By halftime the Scots had jumped out to a 10-3 lead.
Â
Anderson pulled within four at 11-7 with 18:47 left in the game, but the Scots broke the rally on Gordon's free position shot. After Anderson netted another goal two minutes later, the Scots closed out the contest with six straight scores. Green finished with four scores and Chadderdon three while Kaitlyn Korf turned aside four first-half shots to earn her second win in goal in as many games this season.
