Box Score Monmouth held Marian scoreless through the first `5 minutes, but couldn't overcome a 4-goal run by the Sabres in the second quarter, dropping a 6-2 decision.
 
Scoreless after the first quarter, Marian erupted for two quick scores in the first minute of the second quarter and added two more before Mitch Perez broke the ice for the Scots with an unassisted goal as the first half wound down.
 
Trailing 4-1 in the third quarter, Chase Cranford cut the margin to 4-2 at the 3:55 mark, but that would be the last score for the Scots who surrendered a pair of fourth quarter goals. Shots were even in the contest at 27 each, but the Sabres keeper turned aside nearly half Monmouth's attempts.
 
The Scots continue their league road trip Wednesday with a 4 p.m. contest at Beloit.
