Monmouth scored five straight first half goals on the way to a 13-3 season-opening win at Elmhurst Wednesday night.
 
The Bluejays scored the first and last goals of the first half, but couldn't fend off the Scots' Kara-Jade Gordon who netted Monmouth's first two goals in the game and finished with a game-high seven. Gordon's first two scores came within four minutes of one another and Mel Fairand notched her first career goal just a minute after Gordon's second to give Monmouth a 3-1 lead. Gordon pumped in two more in the first five minutes of the second half as Monmouth built a 5-2 lead. The Scots outshot the Bluejays 31-10 and converted 11 of their 14 clear attempts. Kaitlin Korf picked up the win in goal with relief in the second half from freshman keeper Olivia Matlock.
 
The Scots travel to Indiana for a 1 p.m. ET matchup Saturday at Anderson.
