Monmouth scored five straight first half goals on the way to a 13-3 season-opening win at Elmhurst Wednesday night.

The Bluejays scored the first and last goals of the first half, but couldn't fend off the Scots'
Kara-Jade Gordon who netted Monmouth's first two goals in the game and finished with a game-high seven. Gordon's first two scores came within four minutes of one another and
Mel Fairand notched her first career goal just a minute after Gordon's second to give Monmouth a 3-1 lead. Gordon pumped in two more in the first five minutes of the second half as Monmouth built a 5-2 lead. The Scots outshot the Bluejays 31-10 and converted 11 of their 14 clear attempts.
Kaitlin Korf picked up the win in goal with relief in the second half from freshman keeper
Olivia Matlock.
