Will Carius hit the game-winner in the final seconds for a 69-67 win over Cornell at Glennie Gym to stay in a tie for the fourth and final berth in next week's Midwest Conference Championships.

The teams battled through 24 lead changes and 16 ties before the game was settled in the final eight seconds. The Rams took their final lead at 66-64 on a 3-pointer with 1:44 left before the Scots came back to pull within one at 66-65 on a
D.J. Swift free throw before Carius gave the Scots a 67-66 lead with a pair of free throws on the next possession following a
Trey Swearingen steal. The Rams forged their own tie, sinking one of two free throws with 33 seconds left to knot the game at 67-all. The Scots' then took a timeout to set up the final play as Carius scored the winner to post a 22-point, 12-rebound night. Swift led all scorers with 23 while Justin Batteron added a dozen.

The Scots host league-leading St. Norbert Saturday at 3 p.m. tied with Ripon for the final MWC berth. The Red Hawks visit Knox Saturday, also at 3 p.m. Monmouth holds the tiebreaker over Ripon should the teams finish the regular season deadlocked.
