Monmouth showed improvement in the final weekend of the season at the Augustana Pumpkin Bash.
Â
The Scots wrapped up play Saturday, opening the afternoon with a 3-2 loss to Nebraska Wesleyan after taking a 25-16 win in Set 1. NWU came back to clip the Scots 26-24 in Set 2 before Monmouth answered with a 25-19 Set 3 win. NWU again took a two-point win in the next set, edging Monmouth 25-23. NWU then won a 15-12 match in the Set 5 tiebreaker to offset an 18-kill effort form
Ashley Farris and a 12-kill match from
Riley Cook.
Â
Monmouth also took the opening set in the finale, a 3-1 loss to host Augustana.
Lauren Sperry drilled the set-winning kill in the 28-26 win. The Vikings then took narrow 25-23, 25-22 wins in the next two sets before taking the match with a 25-19 win in Set 4. Sperry finished the match with 14 kills, tying Farris for the team lead. Cook added 10 winners.

The Scots finished the Midwest Conference schedule last week tying for fifth, one spot out of an MWC Tournament berth.
