Only the final regular season standings could change, but not the Midwest Conference Tournament field after a wild finish in Wisconsin that saw Monmouth score first, but Ripon last in a 4-3 overtime loss for the Scots.
Â
Clinching a postseason berth last weekend, the Scots will enter the MWC Tournament as the second or third seed, depending on the outcome of the other weekend games. Knotted at 3-all at the end of regulation, the Red Hawks punched in the game-winner just 71 seconds into overtime.
Â
Jacie Reis had put the Scots on the board first with an unassisted goal in the 23
rd minute. Ripon knotted the game nine minutes later as the teams headed into the second half. The teams traded scores in a six-minute span of the second half as Reis scored a hat trick, scoring her last two goals in the 69
th and 75
th minutes. Ripon answered each goal with their own score within a minute.
Â
The loss dropped the Scots to 13-4-1 heading into the MWC Championships scheduled for Nov. 8-9 at Knox. Their first round opponent will be determined at the end of Saturday's play.
