Scots’ Women Avenge Loss, Move to Saturday’s Title Tilt

Box Score Monmouth got the only goal they needed when Kara-Jade Gordon notched her career-record 14th game-winning goal in Friday's 1-0 Midwest Conference Championships semifinals with Cornell.

The win avenged a 3-0 loss to the Rams one month ago and propelled Monmouth into the championship game for the second time in three seasons. In pushing their record-setting win total to 14, the Scots blasted 15 shots in Friday's semifinal, putting 10 on goal while holding Cornell to five shots. Scoreless in the first half, Gordon launched a Penalty Kick for the game's lone goal early in the second half with her team-leading 15th goal of the season.

Monmouth will face Knox, a 1-0 winner over Lake Forest in Friday's other semifinal, at 11 a.m. Saturday at Knox College. It will be the Scots' third trip to the championship game since 2013.
