Box Score The Scots pitched a program season record-tying sixth shutout, blanking Illinois College Friday afternoon and moved into fourth place in the Midwest Conference with a 1-0 win.
 
Martin Zafirov broke a scoreless tie with 15 seconds left in regulation to end a defensive struggle. The Scots fired off 17 shots, putting six on goal, but none found their mark until Zafirov's winning shot, his first game-winner of the season. Goalkeeper Kieren Marshall stoned the Blueboys for his third shutout this season despite IC putting half of their shots on goal.
 
Monmouth opens a three-match MWC home stand Oct. 19 as part of the College's Homecoming festivities. The Scots will host Lake Forest on Oct. 19 and Lawrence the following day.
