Monmouth started hot and continued to blister the nets in the second half of an 80-58 win over Beloit Saturday at Glennie Gym to continue their climb up the Midwest Conference standings.

The Scots led for the final 34 minutes to move into sole possession of sixth in the league standings and stay in contention for the MWC Championships.
Will Carius hit back-to-back buckets on his way to a game-high 34 points as Monmouth took a 26-14 lead with 6:46 left in the first half. Monmouth, leading 41-27 at the break, increased the margin on
D.J. Swift's 3-pointer to begin the second half scoring. After Beloit closed the gap to nine at 60-51 with 8:43 to play, Swift sank a pair of free throws for two of his 22 points to spark Monmouth's 17-4 run over the next six minutes to put the game away.

Justin Batterton added 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting as the Scots hit 31 of 59 shots from the floor.
