It took just one goal to determine the outcome Saturday in Monmouth's 1-0 loss at Cornell.
After a scoreless first half which yielded six Scots' shots, but no goals, the Rams made good on their first shot of the second half. The goal in the 47th minute proved to be all the scoring for the afternoon as Cornell mustered just four shots for the game, but put the only one they would need in the back of the net.
The Scots fired off four shots in the final half, but could find no net when shots by
Jacie Reis shot in the 60th minute and
Erica Bossard in the 71st minute sailed wide. Reis nearly netted the tying goal, but a save by the Rams' keeper kept Monmouth at bay. A rebound shot by
Devin Cross followed Reis' blast, but the Cornell defense blocked the attempt.
Monmouth continues their road trip Monday night with a 7 p.m. matchup at Dubuque.
